A winemaking story, from father to son.
The story begins in 1924, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Upon his marriage, Georges Roumier settled in the village of Chambolle-Musigny, renowned for the delicacy of its wines.
His in-laws then entrusted him with the keys to several plots of vines, nestled in remarkable appellations: Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Musigny Grand Cru, and Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru “Les Amoureuses.” Georges Roumier took the time to craft this vineyard. Year after year, he devoted himself entirely to its climates, capturing all their nuances. A pioneer, he even initiated bottling on the estate, at a time when the négociant wine trade was dominant.
When his son officially succeeded him in 1961, Domaine Georges Roumier had already earned its reputation. Jean-Marie Roumier, in turn, continues this legacy and grows it. Twenty years later, he was joined by his own son, Christophe, a graduate in oenology. Together, they bottled their entire harvest starting with the 1983 vintage.
Since Jean-Marie’s retirement in 1990, Christophe Roumier has continued the family adventure alongside his sister Delphine: an adventure intimately linked to the land, where nothing is more important than the perfect expression of the terroir…
