Zin Ideos Winery is located in Loutraki, Almopia, a mountainous region of northern Greece where viticulture has long been part of the local culture. Inspired by the Epicurean philosophy reflected in its name, “Zin Ideos” – living pleasantly – the estate works across three vineyard sites, focusing on varieties that are well suited to the climate and soils of the area.
A defining feature of the winery is its commitment to Amassi, a rare indigenous grape that survives mainly in this part of Greece. Zin Ideos is among the few wineries that actively cultivate and bottle the variety, contributing to the preservation of a grape that is seldom found in commercial production.
The vineyard includes indigenous varieties such as Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, Xinomavro and Mavrotragano, alongside selected international varieties including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah. The different vineyard sites provide a range of expressions, with an emphasis on freshness, balance and clear varietal character.
Rather than following a single stylistic formula, the winery works with the conditions of each vineyard and each harvest. The result is a portfolio that reflects the particular character of Almopia while remaining rooted in the region’s viticultural tradition.
